Using Presence Event Check-In to Support COVID-19 Contact Tracing

Tracking Involvement

You can use Presence across campus to not only measure and assess student data but to track which students are attending what events and see who they are interacting with. If a student becomes positive for COVID-19 on campus, it may be critical to backtrack and analyze the student’s history to see where they have been and who they may have come into contact with. By using our event check-in technology, departments, offices, and even student organizations can track attendance at events and meetings across campus giving us a better idea of who the student may have interacted with.

How to Track Involvement

There are multiple ways to track involvement. As you think about expanding how you are tracking data, you can see all of the ways we allow for the event attendees to be tracked here: https://www.presence.io/product/track-student-involvement-with-card-swipe-mobile-devices/mobile-check-in-technology/

Event Attendee Exports

Once you have tracked attendance for an event, you can export and even directly email every student who attended an event in Presence. This could be pivotal in stopping the spread of COVID-19 on campus. By exporting the list of students who have attended an event on campus where a positive student was, you would be able to quickly educate students on the best practices for your institution on what the students should do to ensure they remain safe.

General Student Involvement

As you know, students who are involved heavily in organizations/affinity groups may be spending a lot of time with those other students studying, planning, meeting, etc. outside of a specific event. If the positive student is involved in any student organizations, you would also be able to reach out to students they may be close to ensure their safety as well. Exporting an organization’s roster or contacting members of an organization is all available and ready at your fingertips in Presence whenever you would want to do so.
