Event Calendar Integrations

Use this page if you want to use Involve events in a calendar system or display a calendar on a webpage.

Choose a Calendar Option

Webcal/iCal Feed

Use the Webcal/iCal feed when another calendar system or website component can subscribe directly to a calendar URL.

This option is intended for calendar-compatible systems such as:

  • Google Calendar
  • Localist
  • Supported website calendar components
  • Other systems that support Webcal/iCal or ICS subscriptions

The Webcal/iCal feed provides calendar-formatted event data through a URL.

This feed is used for integrating with other calendaring systems (e.g. Google Calendar, Localist, etc.)

Embedded Calendar

Use the embedded calendar when you want to place a pre-built Involve calendar directly on a webpage.

This option requires less development than building a custom calendar integration, but provides less control over filtering, layout, and behavior.

This is a pre-made, embeddable calendar for putting it directly on another page

Important Limitations

  • Webcal/iCal and the Events API are separate integration surfaces.
  • Capabilities available in the Events API are not automatically available in the Webcal/iCal feed.
  • Filtering by tag, organization, form response, or other event attributes is only supported when documented for the calendar feed.
  • Webcal/iCal is not the same as RSS/XML.
  • Involve does not currently provide an RSS/XML event feed.

If you need to filter, transform, or customize event data, use the Events API.

  • For ICS support, is there any way to specify by organization? example `?organization=adventure-guild` I notice that it has an API for it though it won't list past events and using API would require setting up a server which is a little excessive for getting the calendar to show on a SharePoint page.
