Deactivating and Reactivating Forms

Remove unused forms from the active forms list or reactivate seasonal forms!

Need to clean up your forms list? Tired of scrolling past forms you only used once? Deactivating forms is a great way to keep your forms list current and relevant! The best part is, deactivated forms are removed from the active forms list, but the data is preserved! Deactivated forms can be reactivated at any time, allowing you confident control over the forms you see and use every day.

The ability to deactivate or reactivate a form is based on access to the form, not on user role (Campus Admin, Organization Admin, etc.). In order to deactivate or reactivate a form, you must have Edit or higher access to a form. If the necessary access is not granted, the option to deactivate will not be available.

Deactivating Forms

To start, select Forms from the left navigation menu:

Left navigation menu options

Next, locate the form you wish to deactivate by selecting from the available list or by using the search bar. Once you have located the form, click on the three stacked dots at the end of the row. Select "Deactivate":

Forms page showing option to deactivate a form.

A confirmation screen will appear asking you to verify your choice. Click on "confirm" to deactivate the form:

Pop up window asking user to confirm they wish to deactivate a form.

Once "confirm" is selected, the form will be deactivated. A success message will appear in the lower right corner of the screen:

Forms page with message stating the form was successfully deactivated.

Deactivated forms will not accept new responses and are removed from the list of active forms. If a deactivated form was listed as "Featured Content" on the Student Portal, the form will be removed from the Featured Content section upon deactivation. Only form owners and those with editing or higher access to a form can see a form once it has been deactivated. This requires changing the "status" on the Forms page to include forms with an "inactive" status. (For more on this, see the "Reactivating A Form" section below.)

Reactivating Forms

Deactivated forms can be easily reactivated! From the left navigation menu, select Forms:

Left navigation menu options

Next, click on the "Status" filter. Click the "Inactive" status option to show any deactivated forms to which you have access. With the filter in place, locate the form you wish to reactivate:

Forms page showing status filter that allows inactive forms to appear on the forms list.

Click on the three stacked dots next to the form and select "Reactivate":

Close up of submenu with option to reactivate a form.

A confirmation screen will appear asking you to confirm if you wish to reactivate that form. Select "Confirm" to continue:

Pop up window asking user to confirm they wish to reactivate a form.

Once reactivation is successful, a message will appear in the lower right corner of the screen:

Success message confirming the form was reactivated.
