Conditional logic allows you to control when certain fields appear or hide on your form, creating a more dynamic and personalized experience for respondents. When setting up conditional logic in Involve, you can choose whether to show or hide a field based on “Any” or “All” of the defined conditions.
Any vs. All: The Basics
Any – Broadens your target.
If any of the defined conditions are true, the field will show or hide.
All – Narrows your target.
All of the defined conditions must be true for the field to show or hide.
Show if ALL of the following match
Use ALL when you only want a field to appear if every condition is met.
Example:
I have additional questions for events that have both food and are on campus.
This means that in order for the “Food” field group to appear, respondents must satisfy all of the following conditions:
Event includes food
Event is on campus
Once the conditions are set, the Food field group appears only when both “Food” and “On Campus” are selected.
Notice that when I select Off Campus, I no longer see the Food field group. One of the conditions is not met.
Show if ANY of the following match
Use ANY when you want a field to appear if at least one of the conditions is met.
Example:
When filling out the Event Registration Form, any events that contain food, alcohol, or animals require a Campus Safety Waiver.
This means the Waiver Form will appear if any of these three options are selected:
Food
Alcohol
Animals
The Waiver Form shows when I select Animals or Alcohol, but hides when I select IT Setup. None of the “any” conditions are met.
Quick Tip
Use ALL when every condition must be met — for more specific logic.
Use ANY when one or more conditions should trigger the action — for more flexible logic.
